Onorach Acquires RECRI and Launches Onorach Baltics

Part of the CRO's globalization strategy

Onorach Clinical, a clinical research organization (CRO) providing products and services for medical device and drug clinical trials for Phase I to IV clinical trials, has just acquired Latvia-based RECRI as part of its internationalization strategy. RECRI, which is based in Riga, is a site management organization (SMO) that provides clinical trial related services to CROs, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies and clinical sites.

The acquisition of RECRI will see an expansion of its role and a re-brand to become a new CRO called Onorach Baltics, which will be based out of new premises at Riga East University Hospital. Onorach’s hope is that the move into the Baltic region will further enhance its ability to offer clients cost effective, innovative CRO solutions.

Onorach conducted its own market research project in 2014 that identified the Baltic region as having faster recruitment compared to mainland Europe that is attractive to large Pharma companies and other academics looking to run clinical trials. For clients in China and the EU, the Baltics is a low-risk, well regulated and cost effective place to base studies, according to the company.

Onorach will provide the strategic management and knowledge to manage the new venture from its Dundee, Scotland headquarters. It will oversee every aspect of the work undertaken at Onorach Baltics. RECRI staff will transition into the new Onorach Baltics entity and the company says locating Onorach Baltics at Riga East Hospital will add a much needed resource and will build on their good reputation as a research hospital. A new research facility is being constructed by the hospital over the next two years and Onorach Baltics will be a strategic partner.
